Hosted for the second consecutive year by comedian and talk show host Trevor Noah, the 64th annual Grammy Awards took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday, April 3, 2022.

Billed as "music's biggest night", the star-studded ceremony took place in Las Vegas for the first time, with organisers having postponed the original January 31 date and left the city of Los Angeles due to a surge in Covid-19 cases.

And when the stars finally hit the red carpet, they lit it up with shades of pink, as the powerful colour was given a punky update.

No longer just the shade for demure ingenues and pop princesses, pink has grown into the colour of the moment over the past few months, and the stars put every spin imaginable on it on the red carpet.

Leading the pack was Billy Porter, the endlessly show-stopping performer and activist, who strutted his stuff in a hot pink Valentino ensemble.

He wore a ruffled sheer longline shirt that trailed behind him, and was half-tucked into high-waisted trousers. He accessorised with elbow-length hot pink gloves, and a deep blue lipstick.

St. Vincent also went bold with her red carpet look, dazzling in a shimmering pink gown by Gucci, with a high neckline, a cut-out on the bust, draped sleeves and a sweeping skirt that was hemmed with bright pink ruffles. Singer Tinashe also went ultra feminine, in a pale pink PVC gown with a mermaid train.

Arguably one of the strongest pink looks of the night had to be Travis Barker's, who earned some more high fashion brownie points with his magenta satin longline overcoat, that he wore slung off his shoulders – Kourtney must be proud.

Olivia Rodrigo gave a nod to the trend, wearing a vampy black satin Vivienne Westwood gown accented with hot pink glitter that followed the outline of her figure. She matched her accessories to it, wearing a hot pink shimmering choker necklace.

Justin Beiber even managed to work the hue into his outfit, pairing his dramatically oversized suit with a hot pink beanie, which complemented his wife Hailey Beiber's look – a stunningly simple pale pink satin column gown – perfectly.

It wasn't just the outfits that were 50 shades of pink, as pink hair emerged as a strong trend on the night. Laverne Cox looked fierce with soft waves in a deep plum shade of pink, which added to her gothic lace ensemble perfectly.
