The Oscar Wilde Awards celebrate the contribution of Irish and Irish-American artists in cinema. Hosted by director J.J Abrahams, the annual event acts as a casual pre-Oscars party that plays host to a number of Irish celebs.
Named an "Honorary Irishman" at the 2010 awards, Abrams told his guests that he was fortunate enough to shoot some of Star Wars in Ireland and joked that was "mostly because Trina Vargo (founder and president of the US-Ireland Alliance) wouldn't stop threatening me, and so now we’re going to be shooting a series for HBO next fall in Northern Ireland."

The Ebell of Los Angeles was the scene of the 16th annual awards, moving the event away from its usual home at Bad Robot due to COVID-19 concerns.
Irish stars such as Dónall Ó Héalai, Jamie Dornan, Kenneth Branagh, and Adam McKay were honoured on the night, and the green carpet welcomed Irish celebs such as Samantha Mumba and Sarah Bolger as well as American stars Mary Steenburgen and Adam McKay.
Irish performers Loah & Bantum, and the band True Tides were also in attendance to perform on the night.
