The Irish flag was well and truly flown tonight at the BAFTAs in London, where a host of Irish faces led the style pack on the red carpet.

The EE British Academy Film Awards 2022 took place at Royal Albert Hall on March 13, in London. Known as the British Oscars, the BAFTAs are always a star-studded event. Giving the US award shows a run for their money, the BAFTAs is one of the most glamorous events in the celebrity calendar.

Irish actresses were among the most stylish of the night, with Caitríona Balfe continuing her style streak as she walked the red carpet in a vampy black gown.

The Belfast star wowed in a custom gown by Armani Privé, which was without a doubt one of the most striking outfits the star has worn on her press tour so far.

The black velvet gown featured a high collared neckline that opened into a deep V-neck, structured shoulders, long sleeves, a fitted bodice that nipped in at the waist and a subtle train that ended in delicate crystal embellishments.

Styled by Karla Welch, she accessorised with a pair of open-toe black satin heels and jewellery from the Van Cleef & Arpels archives, including drop earrings, diamond rings and a statement diamond bracelet.

Her beauty look was just as opulent, with hair styled by Gareth Bromell into a chic and polished chignon, while makeup artist Mary Wiles used Charlotte Tilbury products to created a lush and romantic look, with a warm pink-toned eyeshadow and a plum lipstick – Lip Cheat in shade Bad Romance.

Jessie Buckley, who starred in The Lost Daughter and was nominated for Best Supporting Actress alongside Balfe and Passing star Ruth Negga (who wasn't at the ceremony), also chose a black look for the event but went with a very different silhouette.

Buckley wore a modern and edgy outfit by Alexander McQueen, donning an intricate corset top with exposed boning, shimmering embellishment and a ruffled shoulder detail, paired with wide legged black trousers.

She accessorised this with a simple diamond choker necklace and one dangling diamond earring, while her hair was cropped short and loosely waved.

Contrasting with these two looks was Laura Whitmore's, who chose a preloved Stella McCartney gown in a cheery yellow shade sourced from rental service My Wardrobe HG.

Styled by Emma Lane, the sleek and sultry gown featured a scooped neckline, corsetted bodice, thin straps and a slinky subtle fishtail silhouette. She paired it with a rich blue crocodile print clutch bag by Paul Costello, a simple necklace, geometric earrings and a statement ring featuring a heart-shaped pink stone.

Her makeup, created by Tori Ball, was warm, bronzed and glowy, with a flawless base, a rich and bronzed eye and a statement red lipstick to bring out the colour of the dress.

Her hair was styled by Sophie Sugarman into Old Hollywood-worthy waves, that fell softly over one shoulder.
