The Irish flag was well and truly flown in New York City on Monday night, as Laura Whitmore and Samantha Barry stepped out looking fierce and fabulous for the Glamour Women of the Year Awards.

Held each year since 1990 and hosted this year by editor-in-chief, Cork woman Barry, the awards celebrate and honour women who have made lasting impacts on the world. From A-list celebrities and cultural icons, to athletes, scientists and activists, the event is always one that inspires, motivates and moves.

Among the honourees this year was Megan Thee Stallion, who has enjoyed stratospheric success while chasing her college degree and moving the culture forward; Law and Order: SVU's Mariska Hargitay, who has taken inspiration from her television role and begun advocating for domestic abuse survivors; and Dr. Katalin Karikó, whose work on mRNA became the basis of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Held in the iconic Rainbow Room, 65 floors above Rockefeller Center, – where the first Women of the Year Awards was held in 1990 – it was a truly glamorous night, with ensembles to match.

Samantha Barry - who has just been appointed as America's editorial director of Glamour by Anna Wintour - led the style pack, stepping out in a stunning teal full-length gown, which featured a daring low-cut neckline, wrapped silhouette, a gathered waist and a mini train. The shade perfectly complemented her porcelain complexion and rich auburn hair, which she wore softly curled and with textbook perfect curtain bangs.

She accessorised with a smattering of silver rings and dangling drop earrings, while her makeup was kept fresh and natural, with a subtle pink blush and lashings of mascara.

Laura Whitmore no doubt went home with the Friend of the Year Award, after she jetted into New York City just in time for the dazzling event. As always, the Love Island presenter dressed to the nines for her New York minute.

Styled by Emma Lane, the presenter and writer wore a fun and flirty baby pink mini dress by Sanne, a brand that specialises in bespoke designs custom made with ethical materials and practices. The romantic design featured layers of diaphanous pink organza that ruffled as the star walked, layered over a shell pink mini dress.

She accessorised the look with towering strappy gold platform heels by Jennifer Chamandi and a simple patent leather nude handbag.

Her hair was slicked back behind her ears into a fresh and modern style, while her makeup kept to the tonal look of the dress, featuring a shimmering pink shade on her eyes and a rich pink-hued nude on her lips.
