Hosted by stand-up comedian Cedric the Entertainer, the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards were a star studded affair with high profile presenters including Taraji P. Henson, Sarah Paulson, Amy Poehler, Awkwafina, Stephen Colbert, Mindy Kaling, and Ken Jeong.
Honouring excellence in American television, this was the first time in two years that the ceremony has taken place as an in-person event - previous events were held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The annual event complied with current regulations by switching out the 7,100-seat Microsoft Theater, which has hosted the event since 2008, for a well-ventilated venue in downtown Los Angeles.
Rather than sitting in rows as they usually would, nominees in attendance were seated at tables to maintain social distancing, while some casts - such as that of The Crown in the U.K. - chose to gather remotely.

Making up for lost time on the red carpet, celebrities in attendance were dressed in full feather for the occasion with bold, monochromatic looks in eye-catching primary colours.
While Anya Taylor-Joy, Kaley Cuoco and Michaela Coel shone in show-stopping yellow, Sarah Paulson, Mandy Moore and Tracee Ellis Ross dazzled in red and Daniel Levy made a statement in blue.
Elsewhere, celebrities such as Gillian Anderson and Elizabeth Olsen wore more muted looks in shades of white, with Olsen wearing a design by her sisters' label, The Row, while Kate Winslet, Ellen Pompeo, Jennifer Coolidge and Billy Porter sparkled in black.
