The 27th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards are set to take place on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at 9pm ET (around 2am Irish time).

Running since 1995, the annual ceremony celebrates the best ensemble and individual performances of the year across both film and television. This year, however, the star-studded event will see a number of changes due to COVID-19 restrictions in place across the globe.

And rather than strutting down the red carpet, the stars will be turning looks from their homes, with pre-filmed segments aired throughout the ceremony. But as we've seen in other award shows this year, that doesn't mean the stars won't be shining as bright. In fact, many took the opportunity to go all out with their SAG looks.

One star definitely pulling out the stops was our own Nicola Coughlan. The Bridgerton star never holds back when it comes to an award show – even a virtual one – and the Galway native made a statement at her first SAG Awards.

Nicola kicked off the celebrations with a feminine and vampy look for her SAG Nominee Portrait. Shot remotely ahead of the ceremony, the Derry Girls star wore a dazzling black mini dress by Miu Miu.

The stunning dress was bang on trend, featuring voluminous puff sleeves, a ruffled skirt, empire line waist and a daring sheer button-up bodice. Adding to the vampy vibe, Nicola wore a pair of sky-high Mary Jane shoes in a polished black patent finish and accented with an embellished strap.

The star accessorised with a striking beaded necklace, simple hoop earrings and a smattering of simple rings. Her hair was styled in to a sleek blunt bob and her makeup was kept fresh and dewy, with a pale blue shimmer helping her eyes pop.

But it was nothing compared to her final look, a dazzling and dramatic gown by Christian Siriano. Sharing her look on Instagram, Nicola wrote: "Words cannot describe how excited I am to be a @sagawards nominee alongside my @bridgertonnetflix family it's truly a dream come true."

Thanking Siriano for the custom design, she added: "I am so honoured and overwhelmed to wear a custom piece of yours and it's more amazing than I ever could’ve imagined."

The incredible design featured a gothy black lace gown over a black mini dress, with thick ruffles at the hem and intricate lace detailing throughout. The dramatic silhouette was enhanced by the short cape detail over the shoulders that gathered at the neck.

Nicola accessorised with a pair of dazzling black platform heels and stunning jewellery by De Beers, including delicate drop earrings. Her hair was kept sleek and polished, this time slicked down even more and tucked behind her ears to let the rest of the look do the talking.

Her makeup – by Neil Young – truly completed the vampy fantasy, and included a dark ruby red lip, rosy flushed and contoured cheeks, subtly smoked black eyeliner and a dewey, glowy base.

On his Instagram account, Neil broke down the makeup look step by step, so we'll be trying it out the first chance we get to dress up!
