The Golden Globes are finally taking place tonight, after a two month delay due to the outbreak of Covid-19, and the stars are well and truly out – even while at home.

With the usual glitzy ceremony in Los Angeles halted in favour a virtual one, many of the world's most glamorous stars have taken to Instagram to unveil their jaw-dropping looks – because even in a pandemic, the show must go on.

And so far we're living for the dazzling looks. From sleek pared back suits to dramatic Zoom-appropriate accessories and strikingly simple gowns, fashion at the Golden Globes in 2021 is a far simpler, streamlined affair as stars pluck for laid back glamour.

One star not giving up the ghost on all-out glam is our own Nicola Coughlan, who pulled out all the stops for the Golden Globes.

Appearing in InStyle's fashion elevator series, in which the stars show off their outfits, the Bridgerton star looked radiant in springtime yellow, writing a letter as a nod to the feared Lady Whistledown in the celebrated Netflix show.

Styled by Aime´e Croysdill, who has pulled the star's looks for her Bridgerton press appearances, Nicola glowed in her yellow Molly Goddard dress, featuring a full princess skirt, bandeau bust and tiered ruffles at the hips, all in diaphanous sheer tulle.

Goddard, a London-based designer, is known for her fun and expressive designs that combine romantic tulle in fresh colours, sharp tailoring and striking knits. The yellow creative suited Nicola perfectly, and looked like something her Bridgerton character – Penelope Featherington – would wear in 2021.

But even Nicola pared her look back, while keeping it bang on trend, by layering a sweet knitted cardigan by Ply-Knits in a dark charcoal grey. Tied delicately at the neck, the cardi contrasted perfectly with the voluminous gown.

The star accessorised her look with some dazzling earrings by De Beers, but it was her eye makeup we were truly dazzled by. Never one to shy away from colour, Nicola went for a vivid coral red shade on her eyes, bold and just slightly blown out into a hazy wash of colour. With a nude lipstick, the makeup look by Neil Young was modern and youthful.

Finally, Nicola's short bob was styled into a sharp and slightly textured style by Halley Brisker, her platinum tresses falling just below her ear and keeping her look extremely on trend.
