Kate goes bold in full tartan look for Burns Night

Kate can certainly rock tartan, like in this outfit from December 2020.

There's nothing like a flash of scarlet red tartan to brighten an outfit, and Kate Middleton made the most of the vibrant print on her latest virtual appearance.

The Duchess of Cambridge has returned to her duties after Christmas, alongside husband Prince William, but that doesn't mean she's left the festive glamour behind. In a video message to nurses in Scotland, Kate showed off another festive look as the couple rang in Burns Night.

Falling on January 25, Burns Night celebrates the birth of the Scottish poet Robert Burns, the country's national bard. He wrote Auld Lang Syne, his most famous work, and through his poem Address to a Haggis made the traditional dish famous.

In a video uploaded to their Instagram account, Kate and William wished NHS nurses in Dundee a happy Burns Night, one that they acknowledged was "a little different".

"And for many of you working on the frontline, tonight will be a very different occasion, as you work tirelessly through this pandemic to protect the most vulnerable in our society", Kate added.

To help them celebrate, the couple provided a haggis dinner for the nurses, complete with neep and tatties.

For the occasion, Kate went bold with her outfit, wearing a full matching tartan look by Emilia Wickstead, one of her favourite designers, who used the print heavily throughout her AW 18 collection.

Middleton looked polished and elegant in the outfit, which featured a long pleated A-line skirt, high neckline with a contrasting white collar, voluminous sleeves and a matching belt that cinched in the waist.

The 39-year-old has worn parts of the designer's collection at various events, but the complete outfit was absolutely dazzling. Most recently, Kate wore the skirt and scarf in December 2020 on the last day of the couple's whistle stop tour on the Royal Train. That day, she paired it with a long red coat, oozing Christmassy vibes.

Kate finished the look with a pair of delicate gold and pearl drop earrings, the Faux Pearl Curb-Chain Earrings by Simone Rocha. She wore her long hair blow dried straight, in a change from her usual full and bouncy curly blow dry.

Finally, her makeup was kept fresh and dewy, with a swipe of peach blusher and a nude lipstick.
