Lady Gaga kicked off Joe Biden's inauguration ceremony in style, performing an enthusiastic rendition of the US national anthem while wearing a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture dress designed by artistic director Daniel Roseberry.
Roseberry, a 33-year old American designer living in France, took to Instagram to describe his navy and red creation as "a love letter", saying:
"This ensemble is a love letter to the country I miss so dearly and to a performer whose artistry I have so long admired. God Bless Lady Gaga and God Bless America."
Wearing her hair in braids tied together by black ribbon, Lady Gaga - born Stefani Germanotta - accessorised the impressive gown with an oversized gold dove brooch and black leather gloves.
Ever the pop star, the singer completed her look with a gold microphone and gold ear pieces during her performance.
Following the event, Gaga tweeted a picture of her brooch saying: "A dove carrying an olive branch. May we all make peace with each other."

Elsewhere on the day, singer Jennifer Lopez arrived to the inauguration in a dazzling white ensemble.
Styled by costume designer Rob Zangardi, the award-winning artist wore a ruffled Chanel blouse and a floor-length white coat.
She paired the ensemble with classic Chanel accessories including pearl earrings, pearl bracelets, and a pearl belt. To complete the look, the 51-year-old wore a pair of white Jimmy Choo shoes.
During the ceremony, Lopez performed a number of traditional songs such as This Land Is Your Land and America the Beautiful, and even managed to work in a few words of her own hit song, Let's Get Loud.
Crediting her look to the hard work of her 'Glam Fam' on social media, the Bronx singer sparkled for the historic occasion.
As the final performer of the day, Garth Brooks brought his country-casual style to the inaugural ceremony wearing his trademark cowboy ensemble.
While performing his rendition of Amazing Grace, the Oklahoma singer wore a black cowboy hat, a black blazer and shirt, denim jeans, and a statement belt.
