Meghan Markle gave an impassioned speech thanking frontline workers who have worked through the pandemic in her first appearance since speaking out about her miscarriage.

The Duchess of Sussex made a special appearance on CNN's Heroes special over the weekend to send a message to communities across the US who have pulled together during the past few months.

"In a year that has been universally challenging for everyone, I'm inspired by the stories of compassion in our communities. Across the country, people have put their own needs aside to come together and support the collective well-being of those around them," she said.

Speaking from the garden of the house in Montecito, California she shares with husband Prince Harry and son Archie, Meghan said "Back in March, the Covid-19 crisis hit hard, and overnight everything seemed to change.

"For many families, the impact of the pandemic has been catastrophic, and far too many were faced with the heartbreaking question: How am I going to put food on the table for my family?"

"But in the face of this devastating reality, we also saw the power of the human spirit and the remarkable ways that communities respond in challenging times. We saw the good in people, in our neighbours and in entire communities coming together to say they would not stand by while our neighbours went hungry."

Throughout the pandemic the couple were seen assisting at charity drives, helping to distribute meals to those in need and worked with formerly incarcerated and former gang members in a charity café and bakery.

The Duchess looked incredibly glamorous for her speech, debuting a new twist on her classic polished and tonal look. Meghan chose a soft grey silk blouse, featuring long voluminous sleeves and a delicate pussy bow neck tie. She paired this elegant look with a pair of black tailored trousers.

But the real standout was her makeup look. We love when Meghan goes a little bolder with her beauty, and this time she paired her makeup to the gorgeous garden background. Matching the purple flowers behind her, Meghan wore a deep berry lipstick, and paired it with a softly shimmery pink-hued eyeshadow.

Markle accessorised her look with a pair of Catherine Zoraida gold swallow stud earrings and her favourite Cartier bracelet.
