The American singer has unveiled a dramatic hair transformation, ditching her dark, waist-length braids in favour of a buzz cut, which she revealed on Instagram in a photo captioned "just in time 4 beanie weather".
The closely-cropped cut may be a departure for Halsey, but she’s not the first famous female to have shorn off her long locks and looked fabulous doing it.
Here are five other celebrities who have rocked the shaved head look…
1. Millie Bobby Brown
British actor Millie Bobby Brown was required to shave her head at the age of 14 for her role as Eleven in Netflix series Stranger Things, but she wasn’t worried about waving goodbye to her long brown hair.
Sharing a video on Instagram, the star described it as a "life changing moment", saying she wanted to "inspire other girls that your image or exterior part is not what I think is important."
2. Charlize Theron
Millie Bobby Brown said she wanted to emulate Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road. For the 2015 movie, the South African actor lopped off her blonde locks – shaving her head herself – to play fierce Furiosa.
3. Adwoa Aboah
London-born model Adwoa Aboah says that finally shaving her head after years of struggling to find hairdressers who understand afro hair was empowering, and it boosted her modelling career too.
She wrote in an essay for Teen Vogue: "I’ve grown up and I’ve learned to appreciate looking unique, and not having long, blonde locks…at last. That in itself is the most important achievement."
4. Natalie Portman
Not only was Natalie Portman required to have a buzz cut for her role in V For Vendetta, the actor had to have her head shaved on camera as part of the 2015 movie.
The American later showed off her super-short locks on the red carpet while promoting Star Wars Episode 3.
5. Demi Moore
The original celebrity buzz cut icon, Demi Moore grabbed the clippers and shaved her head on screen for her role in 1997’s GI Jane, in which she bulked up to play a woman who undergoes US Navy SEAL training.
