A weekend movie night in with the family is usually a quiet affair. Not so much when you're Kate Middleton and a national treasure is your guest of honour.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their three children had a night in like no other when they hosted a special movie night with Sir David Attenborough, getting a sneak preview of his new Netflix film David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet.
The family welcomed the naturalist and documentary filmmaker to their home, meeting him in their garden where a small screen had been set up for the family.
The Cambridges have long been friends with Attenborough, meeting at various events such as last year's ship naming ceremony for the RSS Sir David Attenborough, a new polar research vessel.
But it was clear to see that the children were utterly starstruck. We think anyone who gets to meet Attenborough would have the same reaction as Princess Charlotte, who was snapped holding her hands up to her face in excitement.
Prince George – who, according to his mum, has a keen interest in dinosaurs – even got a special gift from Attenborough, who gave him a giant shark tooth or "carcharocles megalodon".
"Sir David found the tooth on a family holiday to Malta in the late 1960s, embedded in the island’s soft yellow limestone which was laid down during the Miocene period some 23 million years ago. Carcharocles is believed to have grown to 15 metres in length, which is about twice the length of the Great White, the largest shark alive today", the couple's Instagram post read.
Keeping things casual, Kate wore a chic and elegant denim midi dress by Gabriela Hearst, a brand renowned for its sustainable designs.
The Marley dress features a button-down front, rolled sleeves, a full A-line skirt accented with mother of pearl snaps and a delicate belt that cinches the waist with a metal snaffle closure, all in a soft shade of blue chambray denim.
Being 100% cotton, it's ideal for late summer evenings, and costs roughly €1,362. She paired this with some classic navy suede court shoes.
Keeping to the natural theme, Kate chose a pair of delicate silver earrings by Patrick Mavros. The Pangolin Haka style earrings take inspiration from the "symmetry of a Pangolin's tail", according to the brand, and feature a tapered shape with a scale-like pattern.
As always, she wore her brown locks in a full and bouncy blow-dry, while her makeup was kept fresh and natural.
