Meghan Markle has been wowing with both her fashion and her advocacy since stepping back from the Royal Family, using her time and her platform in recent months to encourage people to vote and to discuss the need for greater equality.

From cool tailored blouses in vivid colours to sweet patterned dresses, the Duchess of Sussex has returned to her relaxed and sophisticated roots in fashion, very suited to her new home with husband Prince Harry and son Archie in Montecito, Los Angeles.

Her latest appearance is no different, this time a conversation with 70's feminist icon and groundbreaking activist Gloria Steinem, who joined the Duchess for a chat in what appears to be her back garden.

The video was filmed as part of the MAKERS Women series, an initiative that aims to forward the women's movement through video essays and interviews. The pair have been friends for some time, it seems, and met to discuss feminism and the importance of voting.

"Welcome home, I'm so glad you're home," Gloria, 86, says at the start of the video. "Thank you. Me too. For so many reasons," Meghan responds.

"People forget how hard women like you and so many others before you fought for us to be where we are right now," Meghan says about Steinem's history. "If you don't vote you don't exist... it's the only place we are all equal, in the voting booth", she replies.

They also discuss feminism and what it means to be feminist today. On the topic of being feminist while also being masculine, Meghan adds "Like my husband! I love that when he just came in he said, 'You know that I'm a feminist too, right Gloria?! It's really important to me that you know that’".

"And I look at our son and what a beautiful example that he gets to grow up with a father who is so comfortable owning that as part of his own self-identification. That there's no shame in being someone who advocates for fundamental human rights for everyone, which of course includes women."

It looks like Meghan took inspiration from her guest's history as she rocked a relaxed and casual 70's style boho look, perfect for late summer.

She looked radiant in a pair of striped herringbone-jacquard straight-leg pants by Anine Bing, the ultimate city girl designer (costing €246), paired with a simple white loose-fitting t-shirt tucked in.

To complete her look, the Duchess added a pair of Rhea Sandals by Stella McCartney, a stunning strappy style featuring a small wooden heel and ankle ties. The sustainable shoes are now on sale for €‌178.50.

Finally, she added a gorgeous wide-brimmed sun hat, the 'Serena' style by Janessa Leone costing €320, that framed her face perfectly and completed the boho look. Her hair was worn in her classic relaxed waves parted in the centre, and her makeup was kept fresh and natural.
