It's been a long time since we've seen Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at an event together, but these days their joint engagements look markedly different.

The couple stepped out together over the weekend for a rare outing as they took part in a charity drive-through in aid of Baby2Baby, a local LA charity which supports families in need by providing basic essentials like nappies, clothes and toiletries.

The charity is supported by other big names like Jessica Alba, Nicole Richie and Chrissy Teigen, and it was one of the four charities the couple chose for donations in lieu of gifts after the birth of their son Archie, so it's no wonder the Duke and Duchess decided to help out.

The couple suited up for the drive-through, wearing gloves and protective face masks as they helped young children pick our new school backpacks and handed supplies out to families.

In the blistering Los Angeles heat, there was no need for heels and knee-length dresses as the couple dressed in relaxed casualwear for the event.

Meghan wore a crisp white shirt, one of her favourite wardrobe staples. This time she went for a textured lace one by Victoria Beckham, a chic update on the classic that featured a subtle sheer stripe and an oversized silhouette. It costs €190, but is currently sold out in every size.

The Duchess dressed down her luxe shirt by pairing it with a pair of loose and relaxed khaki shorts, ideal for keeping cool in the intense heat. She added a pair of Adidas Stan Smith trainers, a firm favourite of hers, and finished her look with a blue and white striped mask from Royal Jelly, a New-York based, black female-founded company.

She wore her lock black hair down in her usual loose waves, before pulling it back into a ponytail. She accessorised her look with her Cartier Love Bracelet and Monica Vinader Linear Friendship Bracelet, two delicate pieces of jewellery she typically wears.

Prince Harry looked equally summery, wearing a white polo shirt and dark utility cargo shorts.

Posting on their Instagram page, Baby2Baby thanked the Duke and Duchess for their help at the event, writing: "Thank you to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex for joining our team to help us distribute school supplies, clothing, hygiene items, food and more to children who need these basic essentials more than ever during this unprecedented back to school season."
