Although she's gained the reputation as a trendsetter, Kate Middleton's current style is much more focused on the past, as the Duchess of Cambridge turns heads in more vintage-inspired outfits.

From high-waisted culottes and flared trousers to 50s-style tea dresses and elegant shift dresses, Kate has become known for her retro looks, and her most recent one is just as stunning.

Kate cut a sophisticated figure as she visited a hospital near her home in Amner Hall on the Sandringham Estate, with husband Prince William, wearing a silk midi dress in a striking pattern.

The Shalini dress, by ethical brand Beulah London, featured a delicate print in turquoise and white, which contrasted beautifully against the rich navy blue.

Sticking to an 80s silhouette, the midi-length dress featured structured shoulders, a nipped-in waistline and a contrasting white collar and cuffs. Adding to the dramatic silhouette were the full sleeves.

While the Beulah site is currently under maintenance, the dress usually costs £525 – roughly €580.

Keeping the rest of her look understated, Kate paired her dress with her go-to navy suede court heels, which matched perfectly with her dress. She wore her hair pulled back into a full and bouncy ponytail, and added a pair of pearlescent drop earrings for a touch of glamour.

The 80s-style outfit reminded more than a few people of Princess Diana and her famous style, certainly, the late Princess wore many outfits in a similar pattern and shape.

Prince William matched his outfit to his wife's, wearing a blue suit, shirt and tie for the event, their first joint public engagement since the outbreak of Covid-19.

Given the couple were said to be celebrating the upcoming 40th anniversary of the NHS, the national colours for which are blue, the couple may have been saluting the organisation in their typical subtle way.

While at the hospital, the couple toasted the work of doctors and nurses at an afternoon tea with patients, cheering them on in their recovery.
