It's commonly assumed that the later you arrive to an award show red carpet, the bigger a star you are and thus, the greater your entrance - such as Rihanna arriving last to the Met Gala in that yellow dress.

Leave it to Lizzo to completely disprove that assumption.

The Truth Hurts songstress - who was nominated for no less than eight awards - was one of the earlier arrivals to last night's Grammy ceremony, and immediately left onlookers breathless with her take on Old Hollywood glamour.

Her dazzling hourglass Versace gown showcased her figure beautifully, with a structured bust embellished with intricate crystal beading and a daring thigh-high slit. Adding to the drama were oodles of jewels by Lorraine Schwartz.

Her hair was styled in perfect Veronica Lake-inspired waves, the classic peek-a-boo cut accenting her smokey eye makeup and contoured lipstick.

White and angelic was the theme of the outfit, with her matching furry sole laced over one arm and her toes painted in pristine white. And while everything else said 1940's vixen, Lizzo's nails were fully on-trend for 2020, with her white talons accessorised with dangling crystals.

Even sweeter was the '8' motif on each nail, a nod to her eight nominations.

Lizzo wasn't the only star to don their winter whites, as both guys and gals stuck to the flattering shade. Gwen Stefani went for her usual punky look, in a white Dolce & Gabbana minidress with a bandeau neckline, structured full skirt and intricate floral embellishments on the bust.

Priyanka Chopra went for maximalism over minimalism in a dramatic Ralph & Russo gown, as styled by Mimi Cutrell.

The bold gown featured a very deep-v neckline, full train, floral embroidery in shades of pink and white and ombré pink fringe from the sleeves, making it one of the most striking dresses on the red carpet.

Elsewhere on the red carpet, Dua Lipa arrived wearing all-white Vivienne Westwood.

Repping the guys, Lil Nas X showed up to the event early to nab his award for Best Music Video wearing a sleek all-white suit with matching cowboy hat.
