With the second award ceremony of 2020 done and dusted, awards season is fully in swing. Last night saw stars of every caliber take to the red carpet for the Critics' Choice Awards in Los Angeles, including our own Saoirse Ronan.
If you thought her choice of a slinky Celine dress for the Golden Globes hinted at her fashion choices this year, you'd be mistaken. The Carlow native is as adventurous with her clothes as she is with her roles, and while promoting her latest film, Little Women - based on the classic Louisa May Alcott novel - she mixed romantic and contemporary styles with ease.
Last night saw Saoirse do just this, stepping out in a dramatic Erdem gown featuring a high neckline, an elegant button-down front, flouncy capped sleeves and a sheer voluminous skirt that hung loosely from the body and flowed behind Saoirse.
Never afraid to embrace a bold colour or pattern, Saoirse stunned in the all-over pink and white floral print - which was all hand-embroidered. The striking dress was also fiercely on theme for Saoirse, as it was inspired by the work of Itlaian activist, model and photographer Tina Modotti, according to her stylist Elizabeth Saltzman.
Pink and red is a familiar favourite for Saoirse and the star revisited this look last night, with makeup artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua using all Chanel products to create a bold and romantic look. Pairing a bright red lip with soft pink eyeshadow with a touch of shimmer added a pop of fresh colour to Saoirse's look.
We loved the added hint of colour her yellow nails by Queenie Nguyen!
Balancing the loud with the subtle, Saoirse's hairstylist, Adir Abergel went for "sleek hair, low ponytail, lots of shine", according to his Instagram, giving the star a deep side parting and framing her face with one sophisticated curl.
