All the glamorous looks from the AMAs 2019

All the fashion from the AMAs.
All the fashion from the AMAs.

It was a colourful night in Holloywood last night, as some of the world's brightest stars stormed Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater for the American Music Awards 2019.

The annual ceremony celebrates some of the most popular and successful acts of the previous year, and this year saw Taylor Swift make history as she broke Michael Jackson's record for the most AMAs.

Swift, who was cleared to use her old songs in a performance by her former record label, which is currently in a high-profile feud with the singer, was awarded the Artist of the Decade award. She also scooped a further five awards, including Artist of the Year, the top prize.

Her record is now at 29 AMAs, well beating out Michael Jackson's 24.

Swift arrived in a dazzling olive green sequin gown by Julien MacDonald, featuring a thigh-high slit, long black boots and Grecian-inspired draping around the bodice, before changing into her outfit for her performance: a spectacular gold sequin leotard with matching gold boots, suspenders and a gold and pink cape.

Bright colours and fun silhouettes were the order of the night, with Lizzo continuing her retro take on fashion in a custom neon peach ruffled mini dress by Valentino, complete with a ridiculously small white purse. With white drop earrings and her hair in a bouncy beehive up-do, Lizzo brought the glamour of the 60s straight into the 21st century.

Selena Gomez also brought some old-Hollywood elegance to her look, pairing her canary yellow Versace mini dress and shoes with a blunt blown-out bob and shimmering strands of diamonds around her neck. It was the star's first live TV performance in two years, after undergoing a kidney transplant and struggling with anxiety and depression.

Halsey was all about the bright colours in her appearance, showing up in a dazzling watercolour-inspired Marc Jacobs gown and matching fingerprint eye makeup in blue and pink. Her performance was a kinetic one, with the singer and a backup dancer starting off in all-white outfits and then smearing one another with paint.

Billie Eilish went firmly in the other direction, coming through in a full Burberry look complete with slides and a crystal-embellished white hat. The 17-year-old scooped two awards and stunned with a fierce performance.

Billy Porter made yet another iconic appearance in an avant garde Thom Browne creation, featuring a white shirt and tie, white jacket embroidered with seahorses and a bustled skirt that swished around his legs. His dramatic headpiece was by Stephen Jones.

Tyra Banks made an appearance to present an award, stunning in a Don Morphy tan suit with a wide brimmed hat and black bra.

Veritable legends stopped by too, with country pop superstar Shania Twain treating viewers to a medley of her songs and popular hits from the previous year, while Ozzy Osborne took to the stage with Travis Scott and Post Malone for a stunning performance of 'Take What You Want'.

But that's nothing compared to Ciara, the host of the night, who turned heads in a series of jaw-dropping outfits. From her electric blue suit and bejewelled bra, to her slinky silver mini dress and that leopard print gown, she had enough looks to warrant a gallery on her own!

Definitely the host with the most.
