If you're ever looking for wardrobe inspiration, look no further than Laura Whitmore's Instagram account. Even if the presenter's brand of rock n' roll-meets-modern luxe isn't exactly your taste, seeing the confidence with which she pulls her looks together is inspiration enough.
Case in point, her fondness for a good, old suit. Whether she's strutting her stuff on the red carpet or catching some rays on a sunny and stylish day in the city, you'll find her in a coterie of chic two-pieces.
As the summer months dwindle away and the season for layering up creeps ever closer, we look back at the style lessons Laura has given us this summer, and make the case for the co-ord to be the lasting style staple for the rest of the year.
1. Rock the rainbow
By her own admission, Laura's wardrobe used to be all black, no doubt owing to her rocker background, but you wouldn't think it to look at her feed. Stunning in all shades of the rainbow, she's experimented with suits in bold colours, too.
The disco lives on in Laura's style, as she makes pairing a sky-blue suit by Swedish brand House of Dagmar with a buttercup yellow blouse and platform heels look as effortless as John Travolta's dance moves.
Even more impressive is her ability to slay a pastel suit, as she did at the Elle List event this year. Her baby blue suit edged with gold by Racil looked fresh and modern, equal parts feminine and with a hint of Ziggy Stardust-androgyny for good measure.
Keeping makeup and hair muted ensure that the suit doesn't look gimmicky, while allowing it to do all the talking as a power suit should.
2. Classic, but with a twist
A classic tailored suit will take you anywhere, from the most important work meetings to a night on the town, depending on how you style it. A simple black suit is also the perfect canvas for your own sense of style, something that Laura proves time and again.
Take, for instance, her interpretation of the tuxedo suit on her latest appearance on The Late Late Show - alongside best mate and editor-in-chief of Glamour, Samantha Barry - which saw her pair a suit by Irish designer Deborah Veale featuring purple lining with an artfully disheveled bowtie.
Or her daring take on contemporary tailoring at the Brit Awards this year, where she paired a black brocade suit by Emilio de la Morena featuring a dramatic emerald green frill down one arm and along the hem. Styled with simple black heels and tousled hair, she looked cool and classy.
We particularly loved her look at the London premiere of The Lion King, when she paired an elegantly simple Alexander McQueen suit with a t-shirt featuring the animated characters Simba and Nala from the original movie.
3. Rock n' roll metals
For when you want to make a statement, opt for metallics like the Bray woman, who has proven time and again that you can never go wrong with adding some shimmer to your suit.
Proving that daytime glitz is absolutely a thing, she served up Marc Boland glamour in a short set by Maje with a classic band t-shirt, while for a filming segment recently she paired her liquid-gold Alexa Chung suit with Christian Louboutin boots so glittery, they could stop traffic.
For red carpet events, her all-out approach is the same: at the National Television Awards in January, she went full glam luxe in a bronze Zadig Volatire suit, paired with platform heels and a whimsical star-shaped clutch.
4. Go for glitter
Red and green might be the official colours of Christmas, but anyone who goes out on the town during this season knows that sequins are the unofficial ones. Wearing a suit to a formal event is enough of a statement for many people, but Laura shows us that if you're going out out, you might as well go all out.
We loved Laura's daring all-sequin look for the Prince's Trust Snow Ball gala in December, wowing in a cropped suit simply radiating light from its multicoloured sequins.
Worn buttoned and without a top, and with sky-high silver platform heels, Laura's look was modern disco at its finest, and clearly comfortable enough to have a little shimmy in - all we ask of a going out outfit, really.
5. Keep it casual
How do you know when something is a wardrobe staple? We figure when you can brunch in it, work in it and relax in it, and on all counts the casual co-ord checks out. Laura has made a solid argument for this, giving us endless inspiration for when we want to dress up but, y'know, not that much.
We loved her culotte-style two-piece from Harris Wharf London in a classic wide box check, paired with a sporty crop top and well-loved trainers.
