It's hard to admit, but when it comes to fashion, it looks like Kate Middleton is gaining the upper hand on the royals.

The Duchess of Cambridge has wowed time and again with her sartorial prowess, putting a spin - or "backspin", given the season! - on what had become her arguably conservative style and establishing herself as a fashion darling once again.

Proving this point was her appearance at Day Two of Wimbledon today, appearing in a dazzling yet understated white shirt dress by Suzannah, which fell below the knee. Accenting the precise black buttons dotting the dress, Kate cinched her waist with a thin black belt by Alexander McQueen, and black suede heels by Gianvito Rossi.

Rounding off the look was a straw mini box bag also by McQueen, adding a touch of trendiness, given the mini bag - impractical, baffling, but cute - is the accessory du jour

Kate's ensemble this year puts her on par with Markle's last year: the stunning sophisticated loose shirt and wide-legged trousers look that seemed to sum up her fashion acumen.

Kate has been working with stylist Natasha Archer and allegedly former British Vogue fashion editor Virginia Chadwyck-Healy on how to shake off her mumsy look.

Kate, who adores tennis and is patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), the organisation which stages Wimbledon, attends the spectacle every year. The green-and-purple bow pinned to one lapel represented the AELTC.

Most notably, she attended the event with sister-in-law Meghan Markle last year, providing the world with one of the most rabidly chased photo opportunities of the year.

The Duchess started off her day seated among other guests rather than in the Royal Box, laughing with British tennis players Katie Boulter and Anne Keothavong courtside, before dropping in at other courts.

In the early stages of the day, she shunned her usual spot in the royal box to sit among other guests before visiting a number of different courts throughout the day. She arrived in a chic white shirt dress with block leather bow belt, clutching a straw mini box bag by her favourite designer Alexander McQueen.
