When describing some of the looks of 2019 Met Gala, fashion lovers have referenced (deep breath) Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, The Hunger Games, Game of Thrones, Scooby Doo, Marilyn Monroe, Hollywood Glamour, Vegas Showgirls, Cabaret, Drag Queens, David Bowie, Cinderella.... you get the idea.
Inspired by Sontag's 1964 essay Notes on ‘Camp', this year's theme demanded that guests go above and beyond the norm when it came to serving a red carpet lewk. From outrageously over-the-top headpieces to playful feathers and masks; the first Monday in May was a feast for the eyes.
If, however, you weren't lucky enough to be in attendance, the next best place to watch the New York banquet was on Twitter. Below, are some of our favourite tweets of the night.
