When Timothée Chalamet, beloved lover of peaches and a quirky fashion statement, appeared at the Golden Globes earlier this month in what looked like a bewildering sparkling black harness, it caused quite an Internet meltdown, to put it mildly.
Such was the furore that Louis Vuitton, the fashion house that unleashed such a statement upon the fashion world, unleashed a literal statement clarifying that the accessory was, in fact, an "embroidered bib".

Now, the embroidered bib moment is officially a trend as Black Panther star Michael B Jordan strutted the runway with an even more beguiling pink patterned bib topping his navy suit.
Styled by Ade Samuel, the look was unexpected and progressive like much of Louis Vuitton's current collections under Virgil Abloh, the fashion titan's first black creative director. The delicate pink and lavender floral patterns lifted the equally dashing navy Louis Vuitton navy suit to a level far removed from the often repetitive and - dare we say, boring - realms of men's awards show fashion.

Just as with Chalamet, the bib carries more than just an easily Instagrammed fashion moment, as it aligns with Abloh's continued challenging of masculinity through his designs. The juxtaposition of vaguely military silhouette with surprising and charming patterns and textures make for truly progressive designs. The fact that they somehow look cool over a full suit is just a bonus.
Though our favourite detail is that Jordan had to take off his jacket at one point and put the bib on again over his shirt. Bibs are just so versatile.

Finished with a dazzling Piaget watch, Michael B Jordan looked every bit the winner, as he and his Black Panther cast went home with the top prize for Outstanding Performance Cast in a Motion Picture, beating out A Star Is Born, Bohemian Rhapsody and BlacKkKlansman.

Wakanda - and embroidered bibs - forever!
