"Beauty is not a matter of gender, it is a matter of style," says Chanel. The brand has developed a range of men's makeup to add to their brand which will launch later this year.
Boy de Chanel will include three products; a foundation, available in four shades with SPF 25, a moisturising lip balm, and four shades of eyebrow pencil.
The makeup range will be available in South Korea from September 1st, then online from November, and will eventually hit boutique shelves from early next year.
There has been a mixed reaction to the announcement across social media. Some people are delighted to see Chanel entering this market as they believe some men are not comfortable or confident buying cosmetics targeted at female consumers.
Chanel is launching its first makeup line for men called Boy de Chanel. I like what they said in the press release, "...Beauty is not a matter of gender; it is a matter of style." 👏🏻👏🏻

Others are not quite as supportive of the new makeup range as they believe makeup should not be gendered and instead of creating certain lines for men and others for women, makeup should be neutral.

While this may be the first exclusively male makeup range, it's not the first time men have worn makeup. Recent years have seen an increased trend of men and boys showing off their flair for cosmetic artistry.
