The 79th Golden Globe Awards will honor the best in film and American television of 2021, as chosen by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, on Sunday, January 9, 2022.

This year's awards will be especially exciting for Irish film fans as Kenneth Branagh's Belfast is among the nominees, with nods for writer-director Branagh and actors Caitríona Balfe, Jamie Dornan and Ciarán Hinds.

Not only that, but Ethiopian-Irish star Ruth Negga has been shortlisted alongside in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role in Passing.

Unfortunately for fashion fans, there will be no red carpet for this year’s Golden Globes. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced that it will be a "private event".

US media outlets have reported that the winners will be updated on the Golden Globes ( website and on social media.
