EF Creative Studios, a group of freelance makeup artists, organized a charity event last week in Dublin. We had a chat with one of them, makeup artist Noeleen Cunningham.
How did you come up with this idea of a charity event?
At EF Creative Studios we want to put the art back into makeup artistry. Mastering form and colour is central to our design values seeking out beauty in its many forms. Not just conforming to social norms and the latest trends, but rather investigating this and pushing its boundaries.
There is a movement, underground at first, but palpable now among our fellow artists and beauty aficionados in the know to push the boundaries and seek to make up a new beauty dialogue, which celebrates difference. Our makeup mashup is an insight into this movement and helps us celebrate makeup as art while raising money for a cause close to our hearts.
On June 21st we hosted the revolutionary Makeup & Art mash-up event with all funds raised going to the phenomenal Look Good Feel Better Charity. The event was a mix of an art exhibition, live body-painting with spot prizes on the night.
What is your goal?
We are a team of creative makeup artists with a passion for making people look good and feel good in their own unique way. We wanted to host an event we were inspired by and that would connect our local business community, support fellow artists and other creatives in the Industry.
What's next?
We are hoping to have more events like this in the future in which we can celebrate other inspirational painters, sculptors and makeup artists work four times a year. Each time curating the work around a central theme.
