Lisa Ryder joined forces with a host of amazing Irish talent including Emma Manley, Edge Only, Martha Lynn, Jill & Gill & Fiona Mulholland to pull together a special pop up store for just 10 days in Dublin's Fumbally Exchange running from Thursday August 4 to Sunday 13. RTÉ LifeStyle spoke to the designer about the shop, style tips and her favourite pieces of A/W '16.
How and Why did you get involved with this pop up shop idea?
I have known Emma for many years, so when she approached me to take part in the event I jumped at the chance. As my studio is based on the west coast it is great to do events in Dublin. To get the chance to engage with a new audience.
Whats your favourite piece from your line at the moment?
The flamingo backpack is my favourite piece in this collection. It is the perfect fun accessory to add pop and pow to any outfit.
Describe your style
My style can be very dark with my basics. I am very at home in washed denim and dark colours like navy and black. However as a accessories and print designer I love print and loud colours and these are usually introduced to my outfits using accessories. Good thing I have an endless supply.
Wardrobe planning for A/W
Lots for chunky knits, large silk scarves I love using heavy textiles against something light and elegant such as silk.
A/W '16: What is going to be the biggest trend?
Accessories are a big feature on the catwalk. Accessories with fabulous prints, applique and embroidery.
Where are your go to places for fashion news/updates?
I am very much a Google addict it is the first thing I do in the morning. I look at the Business of Fashion, Vogue, RTÉ Fashion, Elle. I subscribe to many of the main fashion magazines, but I do keep an eye of companies like Not Just A Label to keep a breast of what is new and exciting from virgin fashion brands.
