Galway’s landmark Hotel Meyrick hosted a glamorous Ladies' Day soirée for the return of their annual Most Stylish Lady Competition. Following a busy day at Ballybrit Racecourse, fashionable ladies and racegoers filed through the doors for a glamorous reception.
The annual competition is one of the most sought after social and fashion events on the Galway Race Week calendar and the judges were put to work with a substantial number of candidates! €1,500 worth of jewellery from competition sponsors Fallers Jewellers of Galway was up for grabs and TG4 Rugbaí Beo Presenter Máire Treasa Ní Dhubhgahail, assisted by Mandy Maher, owner of Catwalk Model Agency and model Mary Lee set out to find their Most Stylish Lady.
The style stakes were especially high this year and the judges were on the lookout for individuality and creativity which was reflected in each of the judge’s showstopping ensembles. Máire Treasa was dressed in a stunning green jumpsuit from Galway boutique Don’t Call me Dear and headpiece by milliner Derek Montgomery, Montgomery Designs while Mandy wore a beautiful white two piece by Umit Kutluk and headpiece by Suzie O’Mahony and Mary Lee wore a red dress from local Galway Boutique Harper with an unusual custom headband by Margaret O’Connor.
In the end it was Catherine Lundon from Mullingar that stole the show and coveted the title of Hotel Meyrick’s Most Stylish Lady. Catherine stood out from the crowd in a vintage inspired look, turning heads in Hotel Meyrick’s Parlour Lounge all evening in her elegant white two piece top & trousers by Umit Kutluk, and beautiful Philip Treacy hat. Her vintage look was complete with a pair of dainty white gloves, all sourced from Faith Amond boutique Co. Carlow.
Máire Treasa and her judging panellists said:
“We were looking for someone who could showcase their creativity and really let their personality shine through their outfit. We were blown away by the level of originality and personality that each entrant showed, but Catherine’s chic and timelessly elegant ensemble was a real stand-out winner for us.”
The Most Stylish runner-up was Kirsty Farrell from Newry who wore a dress by Rosie's Closet and headpiece by Millinery by Mairead. Kirsty was awarded a prize fund of €500 worth of Jewellery from Fallers.
