Want Fab Brows? 10 Essential Fleek'in' Tips

How are your brows doin'?
How are your brows doin'?

If eyes are windows to the soul, then your brows are the frames and those bad boys need to look pretty. So pretty that they are fleek! Seriously - I had to look up the term which was born in a Vine video in 2014 apparently and means perfectly-groomed eyebrows. Naturally, it is now being used to describe everything cool but lets stick to the brows for now.

1. Bigger does not always mean better. Just because extremely big brows are in fashion does not mean they are going to suit everyone.

2. Brushing your hairs into place can make a massive difference to the overall shape. Making sure your hairs are not sitting in one clump can make them look fuller and enhance your shape.

Tweezers - Put 'em away

3. When in doubt – step away from the tweezers and leave your brows in the hands of a professional.

4. Match your brow product with your own natural colouring. If you have ashy blonde hair, do not fill in your brows with a chocolatey brown. Finding the right colour matters more than how heavy or light you fill them in. It is far more jarring on the eye if the colour is off.

5. If you find your brows are being unruly and not lying right, brush them up and out. An old mascara wand or brow brush makes the brows look instantly neater. For a softer look after filling in the brows, brush them out to soften. The number one thing that makes a difference is brushing.

6. For those looking for a softer more natural finish, only fill in the outer half of your brows and run a small amount of colour through the inside of your brows. This allows the arch to be defined whilst still maintaining a natural looking softness on the inside.

7. Throw away your tweezers! A hair that might look useless to you could actually be a vital one to keep.

8. When applying your makeup, make sure to apply around the brow and not directly over them as foundation can discolour the hair making it look grey in colour. When this happens it in turn makes it harder to fill the brows with another colour.

9. With so many brow products available it is impossible to know what products to buy. Brow gels such as Inglot are great for a more precise strong brow applied with a thin angled brush is best. Brow powders are great for a softer brow, in particular the Anastasia Beverly Hills products are great for achieving this look. Beauty bargain brand, Catrice has recently launched a brow felt tip gel in a variety of colours. This makes accurate precision simple with small brush strokes.

Serious business, this whole brow thing

10. For those looking to reboot hair growth either from over-plucking or for health reasons, rubbing castor oil or coconut oil in to your brows every single night is incredibly nourishing and pocket-friendly. For a more intensive treatment option you could try a professional serum such as Revitabrow. It is expensive but worth every penny.
