Metallics rule the Golden Globes red carpet

There weren't too many surprises on the Golden Globes red carpet - with utterly glam metallic frocks proving a popular choice among the A-list stars in attendance.

Room nominee Brie Larson looked like a Globes statuette in a gold sequinned cut-out gown, while Kate Hudson went for an even more daring disco-style nude shimmering frock.

Olivia Wilde continued the trend in a burgundy, plunging floor-sweeper which had serious American Hustle vibes. Kate Bosworth, who's always one to watch on the red carpet, also opted for a sparkly number, this time a figure-hugging strapless pink and silver number.

Cate Blanchett channelled some serious 1920s leanings in a baby pink fringed dress which looked like it could have stepped straight from the set of The Great Gatsby.

As ever, Julianne Moore was breathtaking in a navy sequinned gown with a dramatic fringed hem, wearing her raven locks loosely tousled.

Brooklyn star Saoirse Ronan was one of our best dressed from the event in an angelic white Grecian-style gown, perfectly complimenting the look with a simple slicked-back hairstyle.

Equally elegant was Monaghan-born Outlander star Caitriona Balfe who stunned in a black lace McQueen dress.
