From March 2016, the high street retailer will stock a 75-piece plus-size range in sizes 18-24 across its top stores and online.
The collection will include a wide range of pieces, from classic staples such as stretch skinny jeans, tees and black leather biker jackets, to glam party dresses and work-wear essentials.
The latest spring/summer '16 trends are represented in the range, with prints proving the backbone of the collection. Stripes and florals add interest to a palette of neutrals, blacks and earthy tones.
The beautiful Candice Huffine, who made history when she became the first plus-size model to feature in the latest Pirelli Calendar, is fronting the collection.
She commended the brand on creating a stylish, fashion-forward collection saying: "The fact that River Island is extending their sizing while staying true to their brand is perfection.''
"It's clear they have thought about a curvy woman's body and designed accordingly while giving her exactly what can be found on the high street at any other size. A plus-size collection doesn't need to be made totally different, it just needs to be made to fit."
The RI Plus collection launches in March 2016 and will be available in selected stores and online at www.riverisland.com prices €8 to €110.
