Red carpet style: The best dressed stars of 2015

Between film festivals, fashion weeks, premieres and awards, the year is full of opportunities for the stylish stars of the world to don their glad rags and impress us with their personal style.

Every year a few ladies in particular will leave a lasting impression and I've selected my top ten style stars of 2015 - those that have never really put a foot wrong, have left me swooning over their ensembles and most importantly, refrained from playing it safe.

1. Sienna Miller

It's been a great year for Sienna Miller in terms of her career and her wardrobe. The actress has popped up in a plethora of brilliant films, giving memorable and meaningful performances that will hopefully lead to her taking on some starring roles in 2016.

Sienna has always been known for her effortlessly cool style, but it was at the Cannes Film Festival this year that I remembered why she is such a modern icon. From gothic gowns to princess inspired dresses (and one adorned with kites, which I'm pretty sure only she could pull off) she never played it safe, always made a statement and lets face it, the camera just loves her.

While she's a Queen of the red carpet, Sienna's off-duty style is also lust-worthy. Whether she's out and about in jeans and boots, rocking a statement coat or keeping it casual in a print maxi dress, she always gets it spot on.

2. Diane Kruger

Diane Kruger is one of those stars that always excites, and I love when she turns out at red carpet events purely in anticipation of what she's going to wear. I have to admit that I also enjoy gushing over the adorable snaps of her and her long-term partner Joshua Jackson because if they're around, no one else gets a look-in in the style stakes.

Diane rarely goes minimal, always experimenting with texture, volume and embellishment. Even when she chooses something more conservative, it's never boring and there's always a twist.

She has one of the most lust-worthy wardrobes in Hollywood but she's also one of the only people that could actually pull off what she does choose to wear because her personal style is so unique.

3. Cate Blanchett

No best dressed list would be complete without Cate Blanchett - the woman is just flawless and could wear anything.

She's a big fan of black but doesn't always opt for the timeless LBD and she has given us a master class in how to rock pants and jumpsuits on the red carpet.

What I love is that Cate doesn't only mix it up in terms of style, she also changes up her hair do on the regular, making each look totally different from the last, and she isn't afraid to embrace prints and bright colours either, which earns her some points in my book.

4. Saoirse Ronan

Our very own Saoirse Ronan isn't just making waves in Hollywood for her award-winning performances and general talent - she's also catching eyes for her cool and quirky style choices.

The actress, who is generating a LOT of Oscar buzz for her starring role in Brooklyn (fingers crossed!), never looks predictable and her personal style always shines through in each outfit. We can't wait to see what her awards season wardrobe will look like and we're sure she'll use the opportunity to share the spotlight with some Irish designers along the way

5. Jessica Chastain

When I think of Jessica Chastain's style the words 'elegance' and 'glamour' always come to mind. The star is always very polished and together on the red carpet, without seeming boring or same-y. Where there's a classic silhouette, there is always a splash of something modern too, and if she's opting for a block colour, you can bet there'll be some embellishment going on to keep things interesting.

Jessica oozes Hollywood glamour and I have to take a moment to mention her hair. I mean, it's just impossibly healthy and glossy- major hair envy!

6. Karlie Kloss

Granted, if you're a former Victoria's Secret Angel, member of Taylor Swift's girl squad and one of the biggest models in the world, you're going to be able to wear anything you want and look amazing, but Karlie Kloss' outfit choices are always amazing.

Karlie always stuns on the red carpet, and looks like she's having fun too as she flashes her winning smile and has a laugh with the photographers in between giving her best blue steel.

7. Jenna Dewan-Tatum

I don't know if she's changed stylist this year or what, but 2015 is the year I realised just how stylish Jenna Dewan-Tatum is - maybe I've always been so focused on how Channing's looking that I never paid her any attention? It shall remain a mystery, but one thing is for sure - she's left a lasting impression.

I love how there isn't a formula to Jenna's style, like so many stars develop after years doing the red carpet rounds; she takes risks without ever looking as though she's trying too hard, and she plays with colour, length and cut. My personal favourite look is the champagne quilted skirt and sheer jumper combination - just perfection.

8. Ashley Benson

Pretty Little Liars actress Ashley Benson is another star that really caught my attention for the first time this year in terms of style choices. Unlike many other stars her age, Ashley tends to be pretty covered up on the red carpet and keeps things classy, but never boring.

I'm a huge, huge, huge fan of Ashley's green suit and the black beaded dress she wore to the MTV Awards, with the tuxedo jacket draped over her shoulders, is one of my favourite looks from the whole year.

9. Lily James

Lily James came to our attention in Downton Abbey, but it was during her Cinderella press tour that she set fashion lovers all a flurry with her wardrobe choices.

Lily's look was always clean and crisp on the red carpet, but she also showcased a more laid back style too at more low-key events, giving her overall style balance. Whether she was wearing a princess gown, a shirt dress or rocking some shorts at Glastonbury, her choices always caught my eye.

10. Selena Gomez

And last, but certainly not least, is Selena Gomez - a star that has grown up in the spotlight and is now developing her personal style as she moves away from the Disney and Justin Bieber days.

While Selena's looks tend to err on the safe side, you can tell that she's stepping into her own lately and let's face it, she always looks unreal so I've no negatives here, and I'm sure we'll be seeing more show stopping looks from the singer in 2016.
