Where do you source your vintage bridalwear?

All our bridal wear is carefully selected and we travel abroad to hand pick all our stock.

What type of styles are the most popular?

Brides are unique and have their own ideas of their dream gown. Lace dresses are always popular and you just can't beat the classic 1950's Audrey Hepburn styles that everyone loves.

You alter some of your wedding dresses to update them, can you talk us through this process?

Altering vintage wedding dresses can produce some fabulous results. We are re-working some of our gowns to give them new life and make them more contemporary for our clients. We are mostly updating late 70's and 80's dresses that have a potential with beautiful silks, laces and beading but just are a little bit outdated and fussy for a modern day wedding. Sometimes all it takes to update a dress is by simply removing the iconic 80's sleeves, bows and frills to achieve the more modern and simple look, by doing that the difference is unbelievable. We have made from the puffy 80's gowns the most beautiful 50's and 60's styles dresses. We are also removing any additional layering that would suit modern day and resulting a gorgeous tea length dresses for an alternative bride.

What type of bridal headpieces do you stock?

We are stocking a selection of vintage wedding veils and for bespoke bridal headpieces we are recommending Willow and Wild by Bonzie in Waterford. Their fabulous designs and  knowledge will guarantee you to find that special headpiece to go with your vintage wedding dress.

What is the price range for the wedding dresses?

Each dress is unique and the price depends on the era and condition. Our range starts from €250 up to €750 but mostly our gowns are under €500.

What are the advantages of buying a vintage wedding dress?

I think buying vintage gives a bride so much more choice regarding the style, from 50's full skirt, 60's straight gowns with long sleeves, 70's boho and 80's embroidered princess dresses all under one roof. Vintage wedding dresses were made to last and to be handed down, so you will notice all the beautiful hand sewn details and handmade laces that you won't see in the modern gowns.

Each dress is unique and one of a kind, you won't see another one anywhere else. The big advantage of buying a vintage wedding dress is an honour to be wearing a very special piece of history.

What are your top tips for brides-to-be shopping for their wedding dress?

If you choose to shop for a genuine vintage for your special day keep in mind that each piece is unique and sold as seen so there isn't a possibility of ordering a gown in your size. However, vintage dresses can be altered and customized to ensure a perfect fit, length and features you would like to add or remove. Always choose a skilled and experienced dressmaker for any adjustions.

Do your research about the styles you like and suit you and have a chat with the seller or sales assistant to give them ideas of what are you looking for  to ensure the best personal service and shopping experience.

Check the sizes. Always check before making a bridal appointment about sizing range availability to avoid disappointment.

If you choose to purchase online it's important to know your measurements and always ask the seller about an estimated modern day size.

Be the best judge. It's always good to bring a member of a family or trusted friend for a bridal appointment to get honest advice and second opinion, but remember it's your day and you have to feel happy and yourself in a wedding dress so be the best judge and listen to your "inner" voice while making the decision about choosing your own unique gown.

Check for imperfections and allow for wear and tear while choosing vintage. Vintage wedding dresses were worn once or twice before and there might be a sign of light wear. These are not imperfection but part of their charm and history.
