The Shannon Group have announced the relaunch of Shannon Duty Free, taking "the World’s First Duty Free" back to its original title, but with an evolving new brand.
Established almost 70 years ago, the duty free at Shannon Airport is the first and oldest duty free in the world. This pioneering initiative in Shannon has spawned a world-wide industry with thousands of Duty Free Shops around the world now generating billion of euros in revenue annually.
Starting out from humble beginnings, Shannon Duty Free now offers an incredible 60 brands including top names in Irish and European products such as Chanel, Gucci, YSL, Armani, Versace, Clarins, Lancome, Benefit, and Marc Jacobs. Among other popular brands available at the airport duty free are Jameson, Pernod, and local brands Knappogue Whiskey and Bunratty Meade and Poitin from County Clare. Locally produced Irish smoked salmon and Irish confectionaries are also popular with duty free shoppers.
The relaunch sees the introduction of new signage and branding, a new supplier in the world renowned Gebr Heinemann, and new product lines and layouts are in the process of being implemented as Shannon Duty Free strives to establish a more effective, exciting and profitable retail outlet.

The relaunch also means the introduction of a number of exclusive travel retail offers to Shannon Duty Free including up to 20% off fragrances which will be available for a limited time. In addition, Freddy the Ted, a giant six foot Teddy Bear has taken up residence at Shannon Duty Free to promote an exclusive customer offer of a free miniature teddy with every purchase of over €75 during the festive season. Alternatively, people can donate their bear to charity if they so wish.
