1. Pay attention to the rise of the jean.
If the rise is too high, you will get a "pooch" which will make you look like you've got a bigger belly than you have. If the rise is too low, you will spill over the waistband.
The trick is to make sure you find ones that sit exactly on the waist

2. Work out in the dressing room!
Get a workout in the fitting room - bend, stretch, sit down, stand up - jump up and down – that way you’ll know how they perform out of the dressing room.

3. Look for the magic combination

4. Head over to the dark side
If you’re a size 14 + go for indigo jeans - try a brand like NYDJ which flatter almost every figure (€175, Littlewoods.ie) These jeans are engineered with special lift technology to slim your stomach, lift your butt and contour your hips, making it appear as if you’ve lost a size!

5. Hit the ground running
Go as long as you can with denim - the longer they are the chicer they look and You can always turn them up to wear with flats!
