I was slightly apprehensive about trying Aveda's new hair smoothing treatment, but when I was assured that this formaldehyde-free treatment was kind to hair and had only temporary results, I decided to give it a go.
The Aveda Smooth Infusion Texture Smoother treatment has just been introduced at Therapie Hair Couture's Molesworth Street salon, and it promises sleek, more controllable hair for up to two months.
I have naturally wavy hair that's prone to frizz, particularly in humid or rainy conditions, so this treatment really appealed to me. The one thing I was worried about was that it might make my hair lank, with no movement or body, but my doubts proved unfounded.
If you are looking for poker-straight hair, this treatment will disappoint. If, like me, you want hair that's easily blowdried and smoother looking, you'll be a happy customer.
The treatment is very simple, first your hair is shampooed and towel dried. The product used is then combed through the hair from section to section and left for 30 minutes, after which it is thoroughly rinsed out and conditioner is applied.
The hairstylist then blowdries your hair and straighens it to give a perfectly straight and smooth finish.
My hair was never so straight and shiny than when I left the salon on the day of the treatment, however the real test was when I washed it myself the next day.
I blasted my hair with a blowdryer as usual for about ten minutes to remove most of the moisture, and I found it much easier to handle. My hair wasn't super-straight, but it had movement and sat really well, and any pesky wavy layers behaved much better than usual.
If you're looking for a way to tame your locks, but aren't looking for a perfectly straight result, I would recommend this treatment highly.
It's now on a special, introductory offer of €99 at Therapie Hair Couture, check out their website for more details: www.therapiehaircouture.com
