L’Oréal Paris has launched a new Studio Line range of male hairstyling products. Four new products – gels, pastes and gel-creams – are set to cater to every man’s needs. They believe every man is unique and with this combination of textures, colours and styles the possibilities are infinite.
Because I have naturally thin hair I prefer to use a matte, non-shiny wax or paste. You don’t want to overload on moisture, making the hair look even thinner. The Mix It-Up paste is perfect for this, making your hair look minimally styled and subtle, but full of hold. This particular product is geared towards urban, creative guys who have a passion for street art and music in their lives. Think surfer, bed head, even Russell Brand if you’re daring enough!
The Wet Non-Stop gel is designed for stylish ladies’ men. They are fashionable but always macho. The slick-back and side-parting looks are big catwalk trends for men this summer. This gel is versatile and a little bit goes a long way. Great to tame unruly hair in the mornings into a professional look or perfect to tone down your hair for a slick night on the town.
The Meche Lover is a ‘revolution for longer hair’, aimed at teenagers. If you take style inspiration from Justin Bieber and have very textured, longer hair shaped into a style, this product is for you. It’s a gel-cream which doesn’t leave hair looking sticky or wet.
Finally, the Spiky Fanatic sculpting gel caters for spikes, length and vertical volume. Whether you want to be Jedward or just stylishly sculpted, rebellion and instinct are they key words to keep in mind. For a further long-holding effect, use with a light hairspray to ensure you keep the volume throughout the day.
The only downside about this range is some have an ‘acid drink scent’. While it doesn’t really smell too strong when on the hair, it has a bit of an unusual scent from the bottle. However it is a good, bright contender amidst the packed shelves of styling products.
