Fascinators look set to rule at the royal wedding - if rumours are to be believed.

Kate Middleton's friends are planning to ditch traditional hats in favour of the colourful feather headpieces.

The popularity of fascinators soared after the future princess wore a design with velvet and pheasant feathers in Wales last month.

But the move away from hats has raised a few eyebrows in the fashion world.

Vogue once said the fascinator was "as alluring and sophisticated as elasticated slacks".
