Q. I’m going to the Greek islands for a two week holiday and I’m desperate to inject a little bit of colour into my holiday wardrobe, which mostly consists beige, white and khaki. Can you suggest any particular colours that are fashionable this summer to help me update my look?
A. Indulge your inner goddess with turquoise pieces that looks gorgeous with a tan on and off the beach. Evoking tropical seas, cloudless skies and sparkling white-sand beaches, turquoise teamed with the purest white is a foolproof choice when it comes to your holiday wardrobe. Together they look fresh, cool, and fashionable, whether you are strolling down Grafton Street or sightseeing in Santorini.
Most woman already appreciate the value and versatility of blue, from the easy flowing maxi dresses to denim jeans, but now it could be time to invest in ocean shades such as teal, jade green and turquoise.
Turquoise is the colour to be seen in this summer, just pick the right tone and you will instantly transform your wardrobe giving it a fresh lease of life. And with the High Street chains still awash in an endless sea of neutrals and unbleached cottons, turquoise is emerging as the practical alternative to the current obsession with nude tones and the recent return of black.
From rock frocks to fashion rails in Topshop, turquoise steals the limelight and, of course, has the seasonal supporting cast of crisp whites and sea greens. The great news is that turquoise also looks amazing when you team in with gold or cerise pink (very Matthew Williamson) and it suits almost all skin tones, making it an easy choice for most women.
Turquoise is according to the "global authority on colour" Pantone, the colour of 2010. “It is believed to be a protective talisman, a colour of deep compassion and healing, and a colour of faith and truth, inspired by water and sky," explained executive director of the Pantone colour institute Leatrice Eiseman. Turquoise, in the world of designer clothing, makes a classy and elegant statement, she added, while also being very versatile between casual and evening wear.
Pantone said that Turquoise acts as a "great accent colour" that can be used to accessorise an outfit through items of jewellery and shoes for women and in shirts and ties for men. It even adds that it will be a big colour for weddings this year, not only for accessories and flowers, but dresses as well. The wonderful thing about turquoise is that it exudes calm, feels soothing, and reminds you of your holidays. And, it is a colour that works on everyone. So what are you waiting for girls? Isn’t it time you put a little glamour back in your life with a touch of summers most flattering shade.
