Singer and actress Jessica Simpson has spoken of the distress media speculation about her weight caused her.
Simpson became the subject of ridicule last year after an unflattering picture of her was circulated.
She told Allure magazine that America's obsession with weight was "disgusting."
"I would not wish on my worst enemy what I went through," said Simpson.
"When I think of America, it's very diverse, but we do have the cookie-cutter way we're supposed to look, and going to all these countries [for her new show 'Jessica Simpson's The Price of Beauty'], it's so completely different. I was fascinated going on that journey to discover that, even just for myself."
"My job is to be creative," she said. "And I'm not weighing in for anybody."
