She’s already Queen of the Charts - now Leona Lewis is planning reign over the high street as well. Celebrating the triumph of her second album Echo, which has stormed straight in at No.1 - the X Factor star is also in talks with Stella McCartney over launching her own clothing line.

Leona, 24, said to The Daily Mirror: "There's so much I want to do. I've always wanted to have my own fashion line, and that's something I want to focus on next year.

"I'm on a mission. I'd love to promote a line of non leather bags and shoes that are affordable. I think more needs to be available and not so expensive."

The singer, who is a vegetarian, has long struggled to find trendy clothes and accessories that are suitable for vegetarians. So she was thrilled to chat to fellow veggie Stella, 38, backstage at a Children In Need gig at the Royal Albert Hall, earlier this month.

Leona has long been a fan of Sir Paul McCartney's designer daughter, who is also zealous about animal rights. A source tells the paper: "Leona and Stella got on like a house on fire."

Her album, Spirit, became Britain's fastest-selling debut. It also broke US records as the first debut by a Brit to top the Billboard charts. And now she looks like repeating that success with Echo.

Leona said last night: "I'm absolutely thrilled. I'm so proud of this album. I put my heart and soul into it, so it's great to get this reaction. I spent nearly nine months recording it, so it's so great to finally let everyone share and enjoy it.”
