Gok Wan ‘hates’ 90’s fashion

Gok Wan has revealed that he doesn’t rate 90’s fashion at all – because most of it is recycled trends from the 80’s.

Speaking at Gatwick Fashion Week on Saturday, Gok told BANG Showbiz: "Well, just the other day I saw an advert for an album and I knew all the songs on it. I started watching some of the videos of the songs, which were from the 90's, and I was thinking, 'I hope it doesn't come in.' I really hope it doesn't, so I'm going to say no. The 90's will never come back, they've gone forever."

Gok added the recent fashion 80’s looks - including bold colours, MC Hammer pants and huge shoulder pads will continue for the time being.

He reckons the new styles will be different from the 80s' resurgence of the last few season, but thinks the new looks could mean fashions fixation with the decade is waning.

He said: "The reason why we've had to keep on rehashing the 80's is because we haven't got it right yet. With the 70's there was a strict routine to go through - a print and then a colour.

"The 80's was a tricky one, because it was a very, very desperate time. It was a very political, a social thing was going on in the 80's and the fashion reflected that. We haven't quite got it right yet. I think this season will probably nail it. I hope so because I'm getting bored of it now."

London Gatwick Fashion Week, held at the airport from August 6-9, gave fashion advice and tips to holidaymakers as well as promoting the benefits of duty free shopping.
