Nicole Richie is known for her hippie-chic style and her Hollywood pedigree - and with fans like Madonna wearing her House of Harlow 1960 jewellery line, her design career couldn’t be hotter.

But she has decided to add another string to her bow by designing a maternity line.

The "Simple Life" star will soon welcome her second baby with rocker boyfriend Joel Madden and she's taken inspiration from her own growing family to launch a range of clothes especially for expectant mothers.

Richie, who is already mom to 19-month-old daughter Harlow, has teamed up with clothing label A Pea in the Pod to create and model the designs. She says, "Pea in the Pod is such a known company for pregnant women. They carry great lines, and so when they asked me to create a line for them, I was really excited and eager to do it.

"(When you're pregnant), you really feel like you have to change your whole wardrobe. And that's the last thing a woman wants to go through. So I really tried to make this line to get women excited about wearing clothes. I think the pregnant body is beautiful, and I think you should show it off."

"Working with Nicole was a great experience," said Rebecca Matthias, the president and chief creative officer of A Pea in the Pod, in a press release. "Her style exudes a natural, effortless beauty, and there is nothing more natural and beautiful than a pregnant woman's glow."

The new collection features a 14-piece capsule set that captures Richie’s signature bohemian look. The collection includes the peasant top, caftan, cascade cardigan, a patio dress and maxi skirt. The free-spirited collection offers signature details such as asymmetric hems, braid trim and smocking.
