Fashion diva Lady Gaga is known for her wild and sometimes controversial dress sense.
She may look outrageous but so is her credit card bill. In a recent interview with The Sun newspaper she revealed that her penchant for daring fashion has almost ruined her financially.
Her extravagant, futuristic outfits have cost the ‘Poker Face’ singer a small fortune in the last year. In fact, as Gaga herself puts it, they are so expensive that they have often run her in debt, up to the point of seeing herself as bankrupt.
Until now, Lady Gaga has found herself close to penniless on no less than four separate occasions – and she fears the fourth will not be the last either. “I’ve gone bankrupt about four times now. My manager wants to shoot me. Every dollar I earn goes on the show. Now we’re finally getting to a place where it’s not bankruptcy.” she admitted.
However, since she’s currently preparing to go on a tour (with Kanye West), chances are she’ll be splurging on outlandish stage gear. “Then again, with another tour coming up soon I’ll probably be homeless again.” Gaga jokes.
Of course, there are those who will be surprised that Gaga’s sometimes trashy image could actually cost so much. With designers like Jean-Paul Gaultier rushing to be among those who dress her – and even creating an entire line inspired by her style – it’s no wonder that the singer spends a lot on her distinctive look.
Still, one has to question weather Gaga has really faced financial meltdown - as it’s a known fact that most celebrities are offered designer items for free in exchange of wearing them in public, which she certainly does.
Gaga may not be so good at balancing the books – but she is extremely good at one thing and that’s getting attention.
