We talk to Irish jewellery designer Rebecca Davis about her personal style, fashion icons and her favourite designers.
You're clearly a fan of fashion. Do you enjoy experimenting with your look?
Yes definitely, I don’t necessarily follow trends but I do like to try new things. I know what suits me and I know what doesn’t so I like to experiment within these boundaries!
Who is your fashion icon or your greatest influence in matters of style?
An icon of mine would be one of my jewellery designers Kenneth Jay Lane. He has been designing jewellery since the 1960’s and throughout all of his collections he has kept his statement mark on each while also creating something very new and different. I try to follow this within my own style by keeping the same kind of look but not being afraid to move around within it!
What is your essential beauty item that must be in your handbag at all times?
I’d have to go with perfume; it’s always in my bag wherever I go!
What is your favourite item of clothing that you've ever purchased?
I have lots of pieces that I love so it’s very hard to choose but I did recently buy an amazing cocktail dress in Caru on Drurys street which I love. It’s an amazing statement piece by Alice+Olivia so I’m looking forward to wearing it soon!
How important is fashion in the world of the music/film industry?
I would think it’s quite important. Fashion in these industries has a huge influence over people’s personal styles and can change a person’s style over night.
How would you describe your personal style?
My style definitely reflects my mood! I would say it is quite eclectic as one day I could dress quite casual chic and then another day I could be very glam! I always end up wearing statement jewellery though no matter what mood I’m in!
Who is your favourite designer? And your favourite high street store?
My favourite designer would have to be a tossup between Marc Jacobs and Chloe; obviously I am not buying them on a day to day basis so for day to day essentials my favourite high street store would be Urban Outfitters.
What is your favourite city to shop in and why?
Again, it would have to be a tossup between London and New York, I know the cities quite well and where to shop as I travel there buying for my jewellery shop, Rebeccadavis.com, in the Westbury Mall.
What do you feel best wearing?
I think every girl feels great when they are dressed up and going out but I also enjoy jeans, a top, flats and some jewellery to kick off the outfit!
What is the best style advice you have been given?
Probably to wear what makes you feel comfortable as this is the only way you will feel confident and good in what you are wearing!
