I want a lovely dress for a summer wedding I'm going to, but not sure what colours, patterns or trends to go for. Any tips?
We all love a wedding, but yet another invite dropping on to the doormat can set alarm bells chiming. Not only do you have the cost of the present, transport and maybe accommodation to consider, you also have to get your outfit right for each special occasion.
What to wear to a wedding can be a minefield. It's all right for the bride: she just has to lose half a stone, wear white, and everyone is contractually bound to tell her she looks wonderful.
It's the rest of us who have it tough.
But before you dig out your old faithful outfit that is so last season, consider investing in one of this season‘s fashionable frocks. This season the high street has plenty of gorgeous styles, from bold patterned or ruffled dresses to floaty two-pieces and the good news is that most of them are well under €100.
Should it be floral, or pastel; short or long; slim or full? The options are endless and a pretty prom or cocktail style dress certainly is the best choice for a wedding. Stores such as TK Maxx, Debenhams, Monsoon and Marks and Spencer are all stocking gorgeous dresses from €24 to €91.
Still not sure what to wear?
If, for example, the invitation features a luxuriant cream card with a gold border and embossed script, it's a fair bet that you should wear a hat. If the invitation is home-made, featuring a photocopied snap of the bride and groom as three-year-olds, then leave the Jimmy Choos and the matching, expensive-looking handbag at home.
There's only one thing worse than outshining the bride, and that's outshining the bride.
