Long before this recession there was a budget busting beauty product on the market. Johnson's ‘Holiday Skin’ was one of, if not, the first big name brands to give the pricey tanning body lotions a run for their money.
After one too many fake-tan nightmare scenarios, I was a mega fan of the ‘build your tan gradually’ school of thought. Instead of one or two nights spent in a crash-course of tanning hell, ‘Holiday Skin’ enabled the user to shower, rub in the body-lotion-and-tan-in-one, let it soak in, dress et voilà. No awkward poses, no sitting for ages freezing waiting for a thick tanning lotion to dry, no need for a shower the next morning and the best bonus, no waking up to hellish streak marks, that no amount of elbow grease (or bleach! I’ve tried it all) will remove.
Not only that but the choice of tans to suit various skin tones is perfect. At this time of the year, the fair to medium skin option is ideal and then as tan, sun or summer develops then its time to top up with the ‘medium to dark skin’ option.
This year Johnsons have gone one better with their new formula, which promises no more streaks. While I’m not convinced there will ever be a 100% non-streak tanning product available if I’m the one applying it, this comes very close. Whatever streaks do appear, particularly after day two or three, can be easily rubbed away before reapplying after the next shower.
The upgraded product smells even better than its predecessor, which was quite nice particularly when compared with some competitors. This time the fragrance is a very Johnson’s fresh smell.
Johnsons ‘Holiday Skin’ is the perfect anti-recession budget beauty treat. If only more companies and products followed suit.
