Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine, the television fashion gurus, have been dropped by ITV after their latest fashion series dramatically flopped.

The duo’s latest series ‘Trinny and Susannah Meet Their Match’ failed to attract an audience with viewing figures falling to 1.8 million.

The show was an attempt to reinvent the TV fashion stylists by turning the tables and allowing ordinary women to restyle themselves- but it was an astonishing failure.

The show tried to get different 'tribes' of women to reinvent themselves by changing their wardrobe but it failed to excite viewers, who probably had migrated to shows such as 'How to Look Good Naked' hosted by the new face of female friendly fashion - Gok Wan.

The last show will air on Tuesday. It marks the end of their £1.2 million contract with the station.

ITV nabbed Trinny and Susannah from the BBC in 2005 with a lucrative deal. However, it has now expired and will not be renewed. At the height of their fame, the Trinny and Susannah drew audiences of seven million for their BBC show ‘What Not to Wear’.

A representative for Trinny and Susannah said that they were pursuing several non-television projects, including their underwear line and a tour of Australia.
