For brAIn_waves, from RTÉ Learn and Microsoft Dream Space, we asked you to harness all your learning from the Dream Space TV: brAIn_waves series to create and submit your team's AI for Good solution.
We were blown away by what we received - from incentivising us to reduce our carbon footprint to efficient traffic management, and student wellbeing tools to cleaning up our oceans. However, we can now finally reveal our top 5 finalists PLUS the AI for Good submissions that were highly commended!

It was so hard to pick who would go on in the competition but let's get to it:
- EcoWise AI (Confey Community College, Leixlip, Kildare): An AI tool to support the public in reducing their carbon footprints by analysing their habits and suggesting personalised changes based on this.
- EcoMesh (Presentation Secondary School, Clonmel, Tipperary): An AI powered fishing net that can identify marine life and specifically endangered species in a bid to prevent these species being killed and supporting the fishing industry with environmental goals.
- The Smart Bus (Old Bawn Community School, Tallaght, Dublin): An AI powered smart bus for school communities which ensures efficient, personalised routes for students and provides families with transport infrastructure whilst also being more environmentally friendly.
- Open-SDETENN (Colaiste Mhuire Co-Ed, Thurles, Tipperary): An AI solution that aims to democratize and reduce the cost of self-driving technology for many audiences through open-source development.
- SupScholar (Grange Community College): An app that utilises AI in supporting students with getting access to things they need without feeling embarrassed and informs schools about what challenges their student body has.
