Week two is in the bag! For some the exams are over, and for many they are easing off. Either way, we motor on! Today, students sat German and Construction Studies.
In today's Leaving Cert Diary, with thanks to the Irish Second-Level Students' Union, and the young people who have contributed, we focus on German.
In the video diary up top we have Jade Fitzgerald from Scoil Phobail Sliabh Luachra, An Ráth Mhór í Chiarraí and Laura Danova from St Louis High School, Rathmines in Dublin.
The written blog is by Jagoda Ennis who attends Dublin's Institute of Education.

German is done with! The paper went on from 9.30am to 12.50pm including the aural section.
Students were required to do one reading comprehension, and depending on their choice they were required to do the Angewandte Grammatik (grammar) or the Äußerung zum Thema (theme piece). They then had a choice of doing a letter or a short essay for the written section.
I chose to do the first reading comprehension and grammar. I found it fairly straightforward and quite simple. I understood the story and questions asked, and was not struck by difficulty at any point. The grammar section was not too hard, and a simple knowledge of grammar would've gotten most students through.
The letter in the written section was also straightforward. Revision of the oral topics covered me perfectly. Overall, the written paper was easy and enjoyable!
The aural was what everyone feared after the paper. We all thought it would be complicated and awfully hard to understand, but surprisingly it was a pleasant listening comprehension! A few parts tested students abilities but overall it was an easy comprehension to get marks in.
I’m sure most of us are extremely grateful for the writers of the German exam at the moment! It was one of the nicest papers I’ve ever encountered during my many years of studying German. Now it’s onto the next. Best of luck to everyone still sitting exams!
