Founded in 2006, Maths Week has grown into the world's leading festival of maths, engaging over half a million participants each year through schools, libraries, museums, colleges, and community events across Ireland. The festival promotes a positive attitude towards maths by showing its relevance and creativity in everyday life.
Events include school workshops, public talks, interactive shows, puzzles, and community activities designed to spark curiosity and build confidence with numbers. Highlights for 2025 range from Maths in the City in Dublin, Limerick, and Derry to Puzzles in the Park in locations nationwide, including Merrion Square, Mountjoy Square, Dún Laoghaire People’s Park, and the National Botanic Gardens, along with interactive shows at the National Concert Hall and The Helix.

Now in its 20th year, Maths Week continues to champion numeracy, problem-solving and creativity, inspiring people of all ages to see maths as a vital and enjoyable part of daily life. It has also become recognised internationally as a leader in maths promotion. It has inspired the creation of similar initiatives abroad, including Maths Week Scotland, Maths Week England, and this year sees the first Mathwyl - Maths Week Wales. This reinforces Ireland’s reputation as a global leader in maths engagement.
